What position does Iago have?

In the city of Venice Iago , an ensign in the Venetian army, is furious about not getting the promotion for position of lieutenant, but it went to a soldier named Cassio.Iago thinks that Cassio is less capable of being a soldier than himself . Iago tells his friend, Rodrigo, a Venetian, he serves Othello, the Moor who is a general in the Venetian army .Iago knows that Othello has secretly married Desdemona, the daughter of a of nobleman Brabantio who is a senator and renowned citizen of Venice, whom Rodrigo loves Desdemona and asked her fathers hand in marriage which Iago is aware of. Desdemona confirms the court that she in love with her husband, but her father warns Othello that she will deceive him as she did to him. Iago talks to Roderigo about the marriage of Othello and Desdemona how it will not last long and that she will come rushing to him. Iago decides to break Othellos marriage and use him as his puppet. The grievance of Brabantio is denied and the senators order Othello to aid the armies against the attack of the Turks. Othello heads to the island of Cyprus with his wife, lieutenant Cassio, his ensign Iago, and Iagos wife, Emilia who is also Desdemona 's servant. When they arrived to their destination they find that the storm has destroyed the Turkish fleet. Othello orders a celebration and heads to spend some alone time his wife. Once again Iago speaks to Roderigo ,convincing him that Desdemona will stay away from Othello as well as Cassio and that he should attack Cassio that night as he had planned. Iago convinces to let loose and drink, knowing his bad reaction to it. Iago heats up a fight between Roderigo and Cassio. The noise from the argument wakes up Othello and Iago fills him in on the fight that did not include himself. Cassio loses his reputation along with his rank. As Othello enters the chamber, Cassio leaves for he is scared of confrontation. Iago decides to play with Othellos emotions by making the exit of Cassio seem guilty. Othello begins to believe that his wife is being unfaithful. Desdemona drops the handkerchief that was given to her by her husband on their honeymoon and it is found by Emilia who gives it to her husband. Iago tells Othello that Cassio has the handkerchief and Othello is enraged that his wife would give something so valuable to Cassio. Then, Othello believes that Desdemona is guilty and swears to get revenge on her. With Othellos jealousy, everyone notices him acting strangely even Iago showed concern. Cassio finds the handkerchief in his room with no idea it belong to Desdemona and asks Bianca, his lady friend, to duplicate it.
