Where to find Nether Wart?

Nether Wart is a plant in Minecraft that can only be found in the Nether in a natural state. It is found only in the Nether fortresses, in chests, and staircases, and Nether Wart can only grow in soul sand can.

What can I use Nether Wart For?

Nether Wart is used to make Awkward Potions by brewing. Awkward potions is used in many potions, and requires Nether wart to be brewed. All potions must be brewed from scratch, except for potions of weakness.

How to Get Nether Wart?

Nether Warts are found in nether fortresses near stairwells, and always in soul sand gardens. However, they can also be found in the courtyards of Bastion Remnants. They grow/produce in around 0.1 blocks per chunk.

Where to find Nether Wart in the Nether Fortress:

The Nether Wart grows at the sides of the stairs/staircases in the Nether Fortress.

You can also find the Nether Wart in Nether Fortress Chets (1 in 5 chance).

Where to find Nether Wart in Bastion Remnant:

All section of the Piglin housing unit bastions will have a patch of Nether Wart which will be growing in the central courtyard.

Nether Wart can be harvested/mined instantly with any tool. A mature nether wart crop will give you 2 to 4 nether warts,. This can be increased by 1 for each level of Fortune. All other stages will yield 1 nether wart, no matter if Fortune is used.

Netherwart also spawns in soul sand.

Trading Nether Wart.

All Master-level cleric villagers will buy 22 Nether Warts for an emerald. However, it is impossible to receive Nether warts from villagers.

How to Farm Nether Wart/Grow Nether Wart.

Nether Wart is used in the brewing of almost all types of potions, so try to set up a Nether Wart farming operation. Nether Wart growing time is randomized, but this is how you farm Nether Wart:

• Step 1: Place the soul sand.Placing soul sand in your garden. Nether Wart not grow unless it is planted on soul sand.
• Step 2: Plant the Nether wart plants. Plant the Nether Warts in the soul sand, by right clicking the soul sand with the Nether Wart in the hotbar slot.
• Step 3: Harvest the nether warts. Pick up the Nether Wart, then place the Nether Warts in your inventory. The harvested Nether Warts can be re-planted in the soul sand for even more plants. Light and other factors have no effect on the rate of growth. Nether warts cant be treated with bone meal.

Nether warts will grow in four stages, thoug the middle 2 stages are almost identical. They have a 10% chance of growing 1 stage with each random tick. A Nether wart grows 1 age step approx. every 13653 game ticks (which is 11.3775 minutes), and a Nether Wart is fully grown from planting to harvest approx. every 40960 game ticks (about 34.133333333333 minutes), on average.

Nether Wart Blocks.

Nether Wart blocks are purely decorative, red/purple blocks that can be found in crimson forests, or you can craft Nether Wart Blocks yourself with Nether wart.

Warped Wart blocks are the turquoise variant which can ve found in warped forests, but they cannot be crafted.

Nether Wart blocks and Warped Wart blocks are part of huge fungi or are found in the ceiling, as well as on the ground of crimson and warped forests.

Nether wart blocks and Warped Wart blocks are mined with any tool or simply by hand, but any hoe is the fastest way to break Nether Wart blocks.

Nether Wart Block Recipe:

To craft a Nether Wart block, simply place 9 Nether warts in the 3×3 crafting grid.

To make a Red Nether brick, place 2 nether warts and 2 nether bricks in the 3×3 crafting grid.

TIP: I you find a Crimson Forest, look for the Nether wart blocks as leaves in the fungus forest. You can get the fungus-tree by bone-mealing a mushroom called a Crimson Fungus, which is grown from Crimson Nylium.
