Traditionally, this is done by blowing air or steam through the milk. Depending on the type of milk you use will determine the amount of froth youll get. Its possible to froth any kind of milk but soy milk will be the most difficult. Most people recommend 2% milk for drinks using frothed or steamed milk but really its up to you. The fat content in the milk will change the taste so adjust to your taste buds. Whole milk will have the creamiest flavor and skim milk will have the wateriest flavor. There are a few ways to do this but today Ill outline my three-step, one-minute method for steaming milk in the microwave without any special tools, but you can mimic the steamer method in a few different ways. With a French press: you can froth the milk by hand with a French press by pouring your heated milk into the French press, about a quarter full, and then pumping the plunger up and down quickly to create those frothy air bubbles. Use aballoonwhisk: Start by heating up milk in a saucepan on the stove over low-medium heat. As it warms, beat it quickly with a balloon whisk.
